We would like to welcome Dr. Ping Tan as our newest faculty member. Ping Tan joins us as co-director of the GrUVi lab and as an assistant professor at the School of Computing Science at Simon Fraser University (SFU).

GrUVi alumni, Oliver van Kaick, who completed his Ph.D. in 2011 under Richard Zhang, will take up a faculty position at the School of Computer Science, Carleton University, in Ottawa, Canada. After graduatation, Oliver spent a year as a MITACS Elevate postdoc, and then was awared an Azrieli Fellowship to do his postdoc at Tel Aviv University, under Prof. Daniel Cohen-Or.
Jaime returns to academia after 10 years of experience in a wide variety of functions, both in Mexico and the United States. Jaime's experience includes entrepreneurship in the fine jewelry industry, and wishes to draw from his experiences in this sector as a source of inspiration for research in Geometric Modeling and Processing.
