Our visiting students from Germany (Niklas & Sarah) and from Austria (Ali) have returned home after joining us here in the GRUVI lab for several fun-filled months. We will miss you guys (& gal)! And we look forward to your return real soon.
A warm welcome to our newest co-director, Richard Zhang, who has joined us from the University of Toronto. His research interest is in the area of computer graphics, particularly in geometric modeling.
Ken Chidlow successfully defended his Master's thesis in medical image reconstruction on Wednesday. His future plans include playing xbox and watching the canucks in the playoffs [Unfortunately they lost in the second round. Sorry Ken! -ed]
Soleil Lapierre, Haris Widjaya and Reza Entezari combined to create an ASI award winning display at the 2003 ASI exchange. They had a poster and interactive display that demonstrated their use of volumetric effects such as fog in real time. Congratulations guys on a job well done!
Congrats to Steve Kilthau for successfully defending his thesis. Steve received a "as is pass" instead of the more common "pass with minor revisions". Everyone in the Gruvi lab will miss Steve's fun attitude as he heads off to work at Electronic Arts. Good luck Steve!
We want to say good bye to Martin Artner who did his Master thesis at GrUVi and now is returning to Austria to finish the defense. Martin gave us a lot of happy times and we are looking forward to seeing him again.
